We’ve become fairly accustomed to seeing A-list talent splashed across the cover of W Magazine. The American magazine’s annual Best Performances issue is here for 2025. Naturally, Sara Moonves (who has served as editor-in-chief since 2019) ushers in some of Hollywood’s finest onto a selection of covers. Mooves drops her usual go-to of Juergen Teller in favor of Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott for 2025. This year’s W Magazine Best Performances installment sees Selena Gomez, Zendaya, Angelina Jolie, Ariana Grande, Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Demi Moore, Tilda Swinton, Saoirse Ronan, Zoe Saldana, Mia Goth, Daniel Craig, Paul Mescal, Colman Domingo, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Adrien Body front a total of 16 covers.

Awards season is officially in full swing, and with such an occasions comes Vanity Fair‘s annual Hollywood issue. First launched in 1995, the publication just unveiled its 30th annual installment of the highly-anticipated issue for March 2024. Radhika Jones champions Bradley Cooper, Natalie Portman, Pedro Pascal, Colman Domingo, Jodie Comer, Lily Gladstone, Greta Lee, Charles Melton, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan as cover stars for the occasion. The selection of Hollywood stars poses for filmmaker and photographer Gordon von Steiner, and were styled by George Cortina throughout the sleek portfolio.

Also not exactly starstruck by the outcome was Marc10: “It literally looks like those photos they take backstage at award shows. Zero effort put into this. And it’s bad enough that the guys usually go for the boring black suits on the red carpet, but here too? Come on…”

“Everything is too cold and not very harmonious,” critiqued Ivanity86.

However, not everyone was left dissatisfied. “I am very much a fan of this! I’m able to appreciate how simple, clean and direct the cover image is. There’s zero signs of any weird Photoshop, and each of the subjects featured appear to have been photographed and styled beautifully,” defended vogue28.

Since 2021 when the annual edition first made its official appearance, issues have been photographed by an array of celebrated photographers including Juergen Teller, Tim Walker and Jamie Hawkesworth. Moonves welcomes back Teller with open arms for W‘s 2024 portfolio, bestowing upon us an assortment of 13 covers featuring a whole bevy of A-list talent. In each of the covers Margot Robbie, Nicolas Cage, Greta Lee, Zac Efron, Natalie Portman, Colman Domingo, Jodie Foster, Ryan Gosling, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Julianne Moore, Lily Gladstone, Charles Melton and Robert Downey Jr. pose before Teller’s lens around various different Hollywood locations.
