Francesca Ragazzi, who has been at the helm of Vogue Italia since 2021, might just be starting to find her footing as editor-in-chief. After all, covers (both good and bad) over the past few months have granted us Linda Evangelista, Monica Bellucci, and Lana Del Rey as cover stars. Last month, Ragazzi closed out 2024 with models like Anok Yai, Alex Consani and Amelia Gray having a blast before the lens of Rafael Pavarotti. To kick-start 2025, Damiano David is ushered in as a Vogue Italia cover star for January. The Italian singer and songwriter is teamed up with photographer Steven Klein for the occasion, complete with Matthew Ellenberger on styling duties. In the cover photograph (shot on location at Chateau Marmont), David gazes down Klein’s lens donning a look from the Dsquared2 Menswear Spring 2025 collection.

“Too bad they didn’t do something sexier with him. I guess the outcome is… OK. Much better than the December covers,” noted Xone upon checking out the cover.

“Did they want to do a BDSM theme but suddenly change their minds?” asked JohannesL.

“I love that he’s on the cover. However, I was expecting more from Klein. I feel like Damiano David would have been game for something riskier than this,” kokobombon chimed in.

Guimon felt the same way. “I love Damiano. I was excited when I saw Steven Klein in the thread title, but I’m so disappointed with the results,” they echoed.

Yet not everyone was left so unsatisfied. “Well, this is a decent cover,” confessed zacatecas570.

“The colors are rich, good angles, something of a narrative. Thank GOD we still have Klein doing atmospheric photos that evoke something,” Alquimista enthused.

You will always and forever hear us, here at theFashionSpot, rave about magazines that champion homegrown talents. Whether it’s Vogue Australia celebrating Miranda Kerr or Vogue France selecting Loli Bahia as a cover girl – we approve. Admittedly, ELLE Poland doesn’t command our attention regularly but as the magazine recognizes two of the country’s most recognizable of models – our interests are stimulated. ELLE Poland editor-in-chief Marta Tabiś-Szymanek ushers in Kasia Struss and Anna Jagodzińska as cover girls for January 2025. The two beauties each pose for photographer Mateusz Stankiewicz. Dressed by cover shoot stylist Karolina Limbach, the girls don looks from the Christian Dior Cruise 2025 collection in their respective black and white cover photographs.

“Kasia’s shot is stunning! Anna’s shot could be better. The pose is weird and the arm covered in shadow looks strange,” commented mikel straight away.

“I just knew Kasia Struss wouldn’t disappoint. I love it,” enthused WAVES.

“Kasia is such a pro,” GoldenPetals heralded.

Nomar added: “They only needed Kasia! She looks incredible, as always!”

“Love both of the covers and models. However, the one with Anna Jagodzińska is my favorite. I like the fact that it is an unusual cover composition, and the Dior cruise dress is perfect,” admired MModa.

You’re no doubt aware Anna Wintour supports stars from the world of sport via the cover of Vogue. Throughout her tenure at the helm of the American fashion bible, Wintour has endorsed the likes of Marion Jones, LeBron James, Naomi Osaka, Simone Biles, and Coco Gauff while Serena Williams has a total of four covers under her belt. Up next on the cover of Vogue with the unveiling of the Winter 2025 issue are Angel Reese and Gabby Thomas. The American professional basketball player and American track and field athlete both pose for Norman Jean Roy. Reese strikes a pose in a ruby red Versace number, as chosen by stylist Julia Sarr-Jamois. Gabby Thomas (also photographed by Norman Jean Roy) is captured in crisp black and white, dressed by stylist Yohana Lebasi in a fringed Sportmax top and Tory Burch shoes.

“NO! We only like fashion with sports when models and a few celebrities do editorials inspired by sports practices,” instantly declared DK92.

“Oh no. I was dreaming of some movie star on the cover, like Demi, Angelina or Pamela,” shared forum member jeje10.

“I don’t know anything about women’s basketball but it’s weird that Vogue didn’t pick Caitlin Clark, I thought she was supposed to be the big star?” Marc10 quizzed.

Ivancica commented: “I like Gabby Thomas, but not this cover, unfortunately!”

“I couldn’t care less about a sports cover but I don’t mind the first one with Angel Reese. I like the color scheme and styling,” admired kokobombon.

“The Angel Reese cover is the strongest out of the two. It doesn’t rock my world but it feels… fierce(?). I like the coloring, the stare (despite the weird-looking eyes), the movement of the hair, and how Reese is wearing that Versace. Overall, it’s strong and commanding,” vogue28 voiced.

Interview might not hit like it once used to but that doesn’t stop Mel Ottenberg from securing a plethora of A-list talent for the magazine’s front covers. For recent issues, Ottenberg (who was appointed editor-in-chief in 2021) has dropped the likes of Rihanna, Demi Moore, and Jennifer Lopez as cover stars. Making an appearance on the cover of Interview for Issue #558 Winter 2024/25 is Lily-Rose Depp. The French-American actress teams up with photographer Richard Kern for the occasion, complete with Mel Ottenberg himself reporting for styling duties. The Chanel brand ambassador and star of Robert Eggers’ “Nosferatu” gazes down Kern’s lens, trimming the bushes of a Los Angeles boulevard in the unconventional cover image, sporting a knitted top from Loro Piana.

“Each and every one of the movie stills I’ve seen so far delivered a more impactful visual experience than this cover,” a majorly underwhelmed aracic chimed in.

“I keep trying to like Lily-Rose Depp because I am a fan of her mother, but god, she shows up everywhere with this ‘do you know who my parents are’ energy and no effort whatsoever,” VanillaCrush critiqued.

“Can she for once change that stupid facial expression and stop acting like everything she is doing at the moment is beneath her?” asked avonlea002.

As editor-in-chief of Vogue Scandinavia, Martina Bonnier has championed a whole plethora of homegrown talent as cover stars. The title serving Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Iceland has welcomed the likes of Vilma Sjöberg, Björk, and Rebecca Ferguson onto covers over recent months. Bonnier secures royalty for the cover of Vogue Scandinavia to close out 2024 and start 2025 on a high, with none other than Princess Sofia of Sweden becoming a cover subject. The Swedish royal (married to Prince Carl Philip, Duke of Värmland) poses for photographer Hasse Nielsen. In the cover photograph, the Duchess of Värmland glances over her shoulder dressed in a navy blue creation from Swedish designer Camilla Thulin.

“Oh Sweden! The country where everyone lives in a shed and Princesses wear gowns to go fetch. The cropping made Princess Sofia of Sweden look like she is 4’6,” shrieked WAVES.

Jeremydante commented: “Ditch the cabin, give us parts of the palace. Gorgeous girl though!”

“Not the strongest and most beautiful cover of Vogue I’ve come across with royalty. However, I don’t hate it,” voiced vogue28. “The cover itself is easy on the eye, the coloring is lovely and I like the navy blue ball grown amongst the wilderness.”

Make no mistake Paula Merlo is one of the very few editors of Vogue, who champions homegrown talent on the regular. Over the past twelve months alone, Merlo has ushered in the likes of Valentina Sampaio, Barbara Valente, Maria Klaumann, Raquel Zimmermann, Gisele Bündchen, Rebeca Andrade, and Fernanda Torres as cover subjects to Brazilian Vogue. Next to grace the cover of Vogue Brazil is Costanza Pascolato. The celebrated Italian-Brazilian businesswoman (considered to be one of the most influential names in fashion in Brazil) appears before the lens of Bob Wolfenson. The Brazilian photographer captures Costanza in the bathtub for the unconventional cover shot. Cover shoot stylist Rita Lazzarotti selected a look from Brazilian designer De Goeye for Pasolato to don in the tub.

“Costanza Pascolato deserved better! Terrible…” shared Xone.

In complete agreement was vogue28. “What a wasted opportunity, for something which could’ve been beautiful, sophisticated, and elegant. A simple portrait would’ve sufficed. No need whatsoever to give us a shot of Costanza fully dressed and sitting in the bathtub,” he commented.

“Sorry, but the first thing that came to my mind is an old lady in an expensive retirement home who needs to be bathed because she accidentally wet herself,” avonlea002 chimed in.

The majority of Vogue Adria’s cover subjects, thus far, have been talent from within the market that the title serves. Djacic welcomes Indira Scott as cover girl for the Vogue Adria December 2024 cover. The American model graces Issue #9 via the lens of photographer Nick Thompson. Change remains in the air at Harper’s Bazaar Italia HQ. Earier this year, Massimo Russo was named editor-in-chief (having succeeded Daria Veledeeva). Stefano Tonchi became editorial director and Paul Sinclaire was appointed fashion editor at large. The first issue under the new team in September gave us a whole plethora of covers lensed by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. To close out 2024, Harper’s Bazaar Italia rounds out the year with an Anja Rubik cover offering. The Polish beauty is put before the lens of photographer Willy Vanderperre. The Belgian lensman captured Rubik in black and white for the occasion, with cover shoot stylist Paul Sinclaire selecting a look from Anthony Vaccarello’s Fall 2024 Saint Laurent collection.

“Hum… I don’t know, but I think that’s more of a NO than a YES for me!” sighed DK92.

“It’s just too weird of a pose,” kokobombon chimed in.

EDEN12 wasn’t best impressed either. “I like Anja Rubik but I’m starting to get a little tired of the sexy-gollum posing she does all the time,” they critiqued.

“Anja is a beautiful woman but seems to be completely burnt out as a model. She has been phoning it in for a long time. Maybe she should retire or disappear for some time, and come back when she has something to offer besides the usual sad face and same set of poses,” voiced avonlea002.

Yet not everyone was left so dismayed. “I love it, and I love Anja. I actually like the oddity of the cover pose, it’s unexpected,” jeremydante defended.

“The covers of Harper’s Bazaar Italia had become so stale, that the sight of this is much-welcomed,” vogue28 appreciated. “The use of the gold masthead with the black and white feels very celebratory and festive. Plus, I will never tire over the sight of Anja Rubik!”

We stan Harper’s Bazaar France hard here at theFashionSpot. Can you blame us? Under the tutelage of Olivier Lalanne, the editor’s choice of cover subjects has become second to none. Over the past twelve months, Lalanne has welcomed everyone from Gigi Hadid and Kate Moss to Naomi Campbell and Layla Etengan onto the magazine’s front covers. He opts to round out the year by welcoming Laetitia Casta back as a Harper’s Bazaar France cover star. Photographed by Juergen Teller, the French model, actress, and fashion darling is captured at home on French Bazaar‘s double offering for December 2024/January 2025. In the cover photograph, Laetitia gazes down Teller’s lens, dressed by stylist Elodie David-Touboul in a black Christian Dior dress from the Cruise 2025 collection.

The Model Gene also was not impressed. “I never want to see another cover by Juergen Teller again. Please make it stop,” they pleaded.

“I can’t believe I like garden furniture more than Laetitia Casta on a magazine cover,” Srdjan laughed.

Six years ago, Glamour went digital-only and shuttered its print model. Since then, the American Condé Nast-owned title has failed to capture our attention as it once did. However, throughout 2024, covers featuring Lupita Nyong’o and Christina Aguilera have managed to stimulate our interest. The magazine’s latest, dated December 2024, is no different. Editor Samantha Barry welcomes Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie as Glamour cover girls this month. The BFFs, who star together in the Peacock show Paris & Nicole: Encore, pose for photographer Tyler Kohlhoff. The iconic duo appear to mean business in the cover photograph, posing behind a desk within an office setting. Styled by Anatoli Smith, Hilton dons Jacquemus while Richie sports a look from Ferragamo.
