At Balenciaga HQ, Demna is there to stay. After all, the Georgian designer (who succeed Alexander Wang as Balenciaga creative director in 2015) renewed his contract with the Kering-owned fashion house back in October. The Paris-based luxury label continues to roll out advertising campaigns thick and fast. The latest, entitled “This is a Balenciaga campaign” sees Demna secure Juergen Teller as campaign photographer. Out are the likes of Mario Sorrenti and Nadav Kander, in favor of the revered German lensman. Teller points his lens toward Kim Ye-Ji, Kim Petras, Romeo Beckham, Sua, Khadim, and Akolde Meen, each making for an ensemble cast. Demna’s chosen subjects pose on location in Paris, captured around various different locations within the French capital.

“This brand is SO dead,” Kite chimed in.

“The flea market vibes, and the discarded furniture suits the current Balenciaga very well. They have already been selling pre-discarded clothes for a while now,” noted yslforever.

‘This is a Balenciaga campaign’! Do you guys get it? They’re trying to be ironic. Ugh, they’re so self-aware you guys,” voiced forum member GoldenPetals.

Also not exactly best impressed was Deleted Member 170196. “What are these clothes? Who are they for? Who is buying these from Balenciaga? They don’t even try anymore. It’s literally jeans, a hoodie, and a polo shirt. Nothing more. It’s just stuff,” they complained.

The stars of the new Burberry campaign are as close as you can get to British royalty without enlisting the Queen herself. Sir Elton John, Naomi Campbell, Romeo Beckham and more star in the iconic brand’s holiday ads, which feature the annual festive gifts collection.

The campaign, lensed by Mario Testino, includes still photographs and a three-minute video, Burberry Festive Film, commemorating the 15th anniversary of British dance drama Billy Elliot. Each ad pays homage to the movie by recreating the iconic opening jump scene.

The ridiculously good-looking cast also includes James Corden, Michelle Dockery, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and brother Toby, Julie Walters, James Bay and George Ezra. Fun fact: Walters appeared in Billy Elliot as his ballet teacher, Mrs. Wilkinson, and Sir Elton John wrote the score for Billy Elliot: The Musical. The ad debuts today at an exclusive fête at Burberry’s London flagship store.

How long until everyone’s recreating these ads on social media? If only we could all jump as effortlessly as Naomi Campbell.

Romeo Beckham danced his way into our cold hearts last week when Burberry unveiled a short film for its holiday campaign (watch it below). The 12-year-old son of Victoria and David twirled, cartwheeled and kicked up snow in a smart Burberry trench and cozy scarf for the cameras. We imagined that from a brand like Burberry, Beckham probably got a sweet little payout for his appearance in the short. After all, you’ve got to pay your models. As it turns out – yeah – little Romeo Beckham did make a pretty penny off the spot. In fact, he made a lot more than just a few pennies.

According to the Telegraph, the young Beckham is rumored to have received £45,000 pounds to appear in the ads, which in American dollars is approximately $56,000 dollars. That’s a nice sum to put into the college fund, wouldn’t you say? Naturally, Burberry’s finance director would not disclose how much Beckham was paid, explaining, “There are marketing budgets, and they [people in the marketing department] are making those decisions. I don’t sign off every invoice that comes into the building.”

Wether or not the rumored figure is true, it’s pretty safe to say that Beckham probably made more money off that one spot than many people in the world see in a year. Just chalk it up to an added perk of being the child of two celebrities.

Twitter Says Farewell to Gossip Girl

Au revoir Gossip Girl (or should we say Dan Humphrey). Last night marked the end of an era and, as expected, fashion’s biggest names took to Twitter, to say their goodbyes. Sequin Jewelry tweeted, “ we’re excited to see how it ends, but oh so sad to see it go!” Polyvore got nostalgic tweeting, “Bye, ! You were a great show and a true fashion inspiration! .” Agreed. Maybelline New York tweeted, “Ladies & gents, it’s been a pleasure watching Gossip Girl with u over the past few years. Hope u loved the finale as much as I did. xoxo .” While others reminisced about the show’s fierce fashion get-ups. “It was love at first tights! How Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf changed one of our editor’s style forever.” (Fashionista.com). DKNY PR Girl got Twitter-teary remembering her first time hash-tagging television’s biggest fashion hit since...SJP. “I actually remember when I made up the  hashtag. I just thought I have too much to say &  is too many letters. End of an era.” 

And who could forget the reactions to the finale? Derek Blasberg tweeted, “At a dinner with  and she just blew my and ‘s minds: DAN HUMPHRIES IS GOSSIP GIRL!? (And Serena still marries him?)” While #Twitterati was also a bit confused over the fact that Blake Lively, I mean Serena Van der Woodsen married Gossip Guy, weirder things have happened on this show. C’est la vie #GG. 


Anne Hathaway Wears Bondage-Inspired Tom Ford

From TV to the big screen, it seems like everyone who is anyone couldn’t stop tweeting about Anne Hathaway‘s one-of-a-kind dominatrix-inspired look. Marie Claire tweeted, “Can we please talk about Anne Hathaway in this Tom Ford ensemble at the NYC premiere of  last night?” Refinery 29 added, “Anne Hathaway channels Fifty Shades of Grey in dominatrix Tom Ford boots.” 

Fashion editor and stylist, Louise Roe tweeted, “Dying a chic death over Anne Hathaway’s bondage boots here… Would YOU wear them??” While Glamour Fashion added, “What do you think of Anne Hathaway’s ultra funky Tom Ford footwear on the red carpet?” E News answered on behalf of the Twitter-Kingdom, “Anne Hathaway Wears Tom Ford Knee-High Gladiator Sandals—and Nails It!” The WSJ‘s Elizabeth Holmes further emphasized, “I agree with  – Anne Hathaway is really gunning for an Oscar with her Tom Ford ensemble.” Others weren’t quite as taken. The Buzz’s Amy Odell responded, “And how are you feeling about the Tom Ford??? Shoes that look like prosthetics, etc.?” As the saying goes, “Can’t make everyone happy.” 


Romeo Beckham Scored His Very First Campaign

It was only a matter of time…The Huffington Post confirmed, “It’s official: a Beckham boy is modeling.” Building on the fashion suspense, Fashionista.com added, “One of the Beckham boys just scored his very first Burberry campaign—and it wasn’t David!” The British fashion house shortly confirmed its latest celebrity campaign tweeting, “Introducing the new  Spring/Summer 2013 campaign featuring Romeo Beckham.” As for what the rest of #Twitterati’s fashion elite had to say regarding Burberry’s latest face:

“I imagine the press are going to eat this up, due to Romeo Beckham’s presence,” vogue28 posted (he’s right, of course). “He’s looking a bit too over-Photoshopped to me. The contrast between the stark red and the neutral trench is nice, I like that,” he added.

“Its all about the models mixed with personalities, as always, but what a gorgeous little boy he is, and actually wears the clothes well,” Miss Dalloway noted. “I love his movement in contrast with the models. If they all were static, it would be even more simple, and boring.”

Elfinkova wasn’t as charmed. “This ad is both odd and hilarious,” she wrote. “Edie and Charlie are doing their best serious, supermodel poses while the Beckham kid is prancing about next to them, umbrella in tow. It just doesn’t make sense.”

HeatherAnne may have begrudgingly summed up this campaign best: “Using a Beckham kid is a groan-worthy ploy indeed… but he’s so damn cute that it fails to irritate me.”

Gimmicky or not, Romeo is so charmingly cute that he’s hands down the best thing about this otherwise uber-serious campaign. I think this is the start of a successful modeling career for the young Mr. Beckham. Check him out in campaign video action below:
