At Balenciaga HQ, Demna is there to stay. After all, the Georgian designer (who succeed Alexander Wang as Balenciaga creative director in 2015) renewed his contract with the Kering-owned fashion house back in October. The Paris-based luxury label continues to roll out advertising campaigns thick and fast. The latest, entitled “This is a Balenciaga campaign” sees Demna secure Juergen Teller as campaign photographer. Out are the likes of Mario Sorrenti and Nadav Kander, in favor of the revered German lensman. Teller points his lens toward Kim Ye-Ji, Kim Petras, Romeo Beckham, Sua, Khadim, and Akolde Meen, each making for an ensemble cast. Demna’s chosen subjects pose on location in Paris, captured around various different locations within the French capital.

“I have no words,” expressed matheus_s upon first look at the campaign.

“This brand is SO dead,” Kite chimed in.

“The flea market vibes, and the discarded furniture suits the current Balenciaga very well. They have already been selling pre-discarded clothes for a while now,” noted yslforever.

“‘This is a Balenciaga campaign’! Do you guys get it? They’re trying to be ironic. Ugh, they’re so self-aware you guys,” voiced forum member GoldenPetals.

Also not exactly best impressed was Deleted Member 170196. “What are these clothes? Who are they for? Who is buying these from Balenciaga? They don’t even try anymore. It’s literally jeans, a hoodie, and a polo shirt. Nothing more. It’s just stuff,” they complained.

Kim Petras, however, makes for a rather refreshing sight as she takes to the cover of Vogue Germany for November 2023. The publication’s head of editorial content Kerstin Weng embraces the German singer-songwriter as she makes her debut as a Vogue cover star, who for the occasion pays homage to screen icon Marilyn Monroe. Via the lens of Micaiah Carter, the 31-year-old hitmaker poses on location at Los Angeles’ historic Chateau Marmont. Stylist to the stars Law Roach selected an elegant red dress from Jason Wu for Kim to showcase in the stylized and inspired cover image.

The cover immediately garnered feedback from our forum members – both good and bad. “Better than that mess that was last month,” admitted callmejaeden straight away.

“To be honest, I’ve lost count of the times I’ve listened to Dirty Things from Kim Petras’ new album, so I don’t mind seeing her on the cover of Vogue Germany. Not mad at the whole Marilyn Monroe concept here either. Undoubtedly one of Vogue Germany’s more stronger cover offerings this year!” vogue28 chimed in.

Yet not everyone was so sold. “There isn’t anything glamorous or elegant about looking like you’re ready to fall over yourself if you make the slightest move. What’s going on with those feet?” asked tigerrouge. “It’s like someone on holiday, getting drunk in a hotel room, dressing up as Rita Hayworth, trying to pose seductively before they miss the wall and fall on the floor. Good times… but not a good cover.”

“What is this? What a waste! You had someone as gorgeous as Kim Petras and you give us this?” an unforgiving MON questioned.

“Had potential to be great, but it is not,” echoed jeremydante.

We definitely expect to see some truly crazy looks at MTV’s Video Music Awards. But this year’s ceremony may just be the craziest. From an ostrich feather hat to a spoon accent, the attendees at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards were obviously going for shock value.

After all, skin was certainly in. Just ask Megan Fox who rocked a barely-there Mugler creation. Jennifer Lopez also got in on the action by sporting a lace-up David Koma ensemble. Top model Adut Akech played a little peekaboo, too.

We were treated to a couple of haute couture looks. Courtesy of Kacey Musgraves, Camila Cabello and Olivia Rodrigo. Kacey finished off her purple Valentino minidress with the matching topper and red gloves. Camila’s Alexis Mabille gown boasted a big bow. And Olivia’s Atelier Versace stunner came from the brand’s Spring 2001 collection.
