Francesca Ragazzi, who has been at the helm of Vogue Italia since 2021, might just be starting to find her footing as editor-in-chief. After all, covers (both good and bad) over the past few months have granted us Linda Evangelista, Monica Bellucci, and Lana Del Rey as cover stars. Last month, Ragazzi closed out 2024 with models like Anok Yai, Alex Consani and Amelia Gray having a blast before the lens of Rafael Pavarotti. To kick-start 2025, Damiano David is ushered in as a Vogue Italia cover star for January. The Italian singer and songwriter is teamed up with photographer Steven Klein for the occasion, complete with Matthew Ellenberger on styling duties. In the cover photograph (shot on location at Chateau Marmont), David gazes down Klein’s lens donning a look from the Dsquared2 Menswear Spring 2025 collection.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Too bad they didn’t do something sexier with him. I guess the outcome is… OK. Much better than the December covers,” noted Xone upon checking out the cover.

“Did they want to do a BDSM theme but suddenly change their minds?” asked JohannesL.

“I love that he’s on the cover. However, I was expecting more from Klein. I feel like Damiano David would have been game for something riskier than this,” kokobombon chimed in.

Guimon felt the same way. “I love Damiano. I was excited when I saw Steven Klein in the thread title, but I’m so disappointed with the results,” they echoed.

Yet not everyone was left so unsatisfied. “Well, this is a decent cover,” confessed zacatecas570.

“The colors are rich, good angles, something of a narrative. Thank GOD we still have Klein doing atmospheric photos that evoke something,” Alquimista enthused.

Ahead of the upcoming Spring 2025 season of Milan Fashion Week, we’re flashing it back a whole decade ago to the Spring 2015 season – somewhat of a tradition here at theFashionSpot.

MFW Spring 2015 was an absolute feast for the eyes. Alberta Ferretti’s showcase was soft, romantic, utterly feminine and simply divine. Thomas Maier was the creative force behind Bottega Veneta in September 2014, inspired by dancers off-duty, their “beautiful posture” and “dancer’s walk” for his spring offering. Bullfighters and Spain proved to be major sources of inspiration for the design duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The pair revealed a collection of leggy silhouettes, romantic full skirts, and ornate embellishments on simple silhouettes. Cara Delevingne walked the Fendi catwalk exclusively in Milan, with the late Karl Lagerfeld inspired by the architecture of the Fendi headquarters: Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana. Frida Giannini chose to streamline the Gucci silhouette for Spring 2015 while Donatella Versace unveiled her take on minimalism. The undisputed king of kitsch Jeremy Scott, presented a wardrobe straight out of the Barbie Dreamhouse for his spring collection, shutting Milan Fashion Week down with an immense sense of fun.

We absolutely live for modeling comebacks here at theFashionSpot. Whether it’s Daria Werbowy staging a mini comeback in a Gucci campaign or Linda Evangelista having a massive resurgence within the industry – we’ll take it. Doutzen Kroes is the latest to stage somewhat of a comeback. First came a cover of D la Repubblica earlier this year, in addition to Doutzen closing out Chemena Kamali‘s debut Chloé collection during the recent Fall 2024 season of Paris Fashion Week. Now, the Dutch beauty cements her comeback by making an appearance on the September 2024 cover of Vogue Netherlands. Shot on location on the island of Ibiza, Doutzen gazes down the lens of photographer Lachlan Bailey. Doutzen (who began her modeling career in 2003) is styled by Geraldine Saglio and sports an oversized faux fur Dsquared2 hat in the cover shot.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“LOVE HER and LOVE the cover!” immediately exclaimed BalkaniStaCouture.

“Great cover, quite impactful. I love the gaze and the hat she’s wearing,” Srdjan admired.

“One of my most favorite of the September covers this year, without a shadow of a doubt. Massively here for the comeback of Doutzen Kroes. The fact Lachlan Bailey photographed this and Geraldine Saglio styled the shoot is just an added bonus. Absolutely love the cover shot, love the colors, the minimal art direction and the Dsquared2 hat,” raved vogue28.

“I am immensely happy to see Doutzen again and on a beautiful cover! She is a COVER GIRL and I want more Vogue covers with her,” DK92 shared.

Not everyone, however, was so forthcoming. “Absolutely abysmal,” described lanvinray.

“It has been ages since Doutzen Kroes has done something interesting as a model. Always the same face and that ‘Mother Earth’ styling bullsh*t,” avonlea002 critiqued.

That’s a warp on Menswear Milan Fashion Week Spring 2025, with the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana’s schedule this season having packed an almighty punch and leaving a lasting impression.

All eyes were on Adrian Appiolaza at Moschino who opened up the Milanese fashion affair, with the unveiling of his highly-anticipated menswear collection as the brand’s newly-installed creative director. The Argentinian designer ventured into the Moschino archives to seek inspo, ultimately reinventing some signature Moschino staples and met with a resounding standing ovation from our forum members. Later in the day, Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2 blended elements of leather harnesses, boxing attire with a sense of fun and playfulness.

For MSGM’s 15th anniversary, Massimo Giorgetti channeled the essence of youthful exuberance via a vivid color palette. Aptly titled “Italian Beauty”, the ultimate Italian design duo that are Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana paid homage to idyllic Italian summers during the 1950s (an in particular the iconic Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni). Woven raffia jackets, shirts and tunics in summer shades of tan, echoed in the footwear and bags while there was touches of sleek blacks and browns splashed throughout. Clean lines and minimalism were the order of the day at Silvia Venturini Fendi’s Fendi while Neil Barrett updated his customer’s wardrobe with a lineup of chic shades of grays balanced by mustard yellows and powdery pinks.

The fashion pack descended upon the Fondazione Prada to bare witness to Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’ latest showcase, with guests ushered into a vast showcase complete with a little white house and a winding runway. The Prada co-creative directors blurred the lines between reality and illusion and flaunted a masterful use of trompe l’oeil details. Martine Rose set up shop this season at the Porta Romana art center, decamping to Milan for Spring 2025 (after opting to show previously in Paris and during Pitti Uomo). It was an explosion of creativity at JW Anderson, where the Irish designer’s knack for the unexpected was on full roaring display.

To round out the festivities on day four, the undisputed king of Italian fashion that is Giorgio Armani ramped up the elegance and sophistication. swaying palm leaves set the scene for a masterclass in tailored dressing, embracing the idea of both style and comfort. For Sabato De Sarno’s sophomore menswear outing as Gucci creative director, William Finnegan’s autobiography Barbarian Days was the ultimate starting point for the Italian designer, who was inspired by the art of surfing. Dolphin prints and short shorts galore were paraded by De Sarno’s cast of models through the Triennale Milano, a sprawling design and art museum situated in the largest park in Milan.

Needless to say, the Spring 2025 season of Menswear MilanFashion Week lived up to the hype. Scroll further for all the hits and misses of the season, all in accordance with theFashionSpot’s loyal army of unfiltered fashion critics:

HIT | Moschino

“It’s definitely going in a right direction. On an encouraging note, the whimsy is strong and charming, with that combination of Magritte and Duchamp surrealism and even a sense of Miyazaki naive wonderment. At his strongest, I’d even say he’s doing it better than Franco: with the best being the deconstructed women’s suiting.” [Phuel]

“Its a lot of wild ideas and things going on which also happens to be the reason we love Moschino.” [Urban Stylin]

“I see a lot of potential and I’m definitely intrigued for more.” [thiago]

HIT | Dsquared2

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“I love it! Very fun.” [VogueDisciple93]

“I’m sorry but I love me some Dsquared2 and I love this. They’ve remained true to their aesthetic and I don’t mind that they are leaning even more into that twink, muscle queen styling for the shows. It’s fun. Their clothes are fun and very well made. Dean and Dan Caten seem to be having fun again.” [reese06]

“I actually kinda like this too. Something about it feels chill. More focus on lifestyle proposal instead of merch and brand status.” [sussiemcswanny]

MISS | Neil Barrett

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“More basic than A, B, C…” [jeanclaude]

“I’m getting a 2010’s, Italo Zuchelli at Calvin Klein collection vibe from the styling but the fit is sloppy and that makes this collection unremarkable and seem rushed. It’s too oversized. Changing the styling to men who are athletic and take out this boy casting or whatever this is he has going on and it would help.” [reese06]

HIT | Dolce & Gabbana

“They are so back! Everything looks refreshing.” [Kanzai]

“Love. Seldom to see summer shorts this elegant. I think of Jean Marais.” [alwaysademo]

“This is what I expect Fendi to be. Gorgeous! Having Karl Templer and Fabien Baron put them back right on track. Dolce & Gabbana keep winning after a few seasons.” [GivenchyAddict]

MISS | Fendi

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Fendi is usually on point but this is oh so tired. It looks like bad Tommy Hilfiger.” [Mutterlein]

“I think Silvia Venturini Fendi needs to be co-designer for menswear and womenswear. Don’t think she knows who is her man. But at the same time, who is that man? Who buys it? Her menswear is very inconsistent from season to season.” [Lola701]

“It’s such so banal. It could be Massimo Dutti or some generic up and coming designer at London Fashion Week. The fact that she insists on designing the menswear is beyond my understanding. Fendi Menswear could be one of the leaders in the field given their rich history and archive (and not to mention LVMH resources), but instead we have this?” [Frederic01]

MISS | JW Anderson

“The menswear collection without men, without menswear, without a single cell of testosterone.” [Alquimista]

“Hate the way he designs, Hate everything he does.” [gallianostan]

“As usual with him. Some really good commercial pieces and then, thrown here and there, some experimentation that never make sense. I think the problem with his experimenting is precisely that they don’t make sense. What’s the reference? What’s the link? How the coated jeans and cardigans ended up being in the same collection as the car wash fringes?” [Lola701]

MISS | Prada

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“I hate what became of Prada.” [FiLReD]

“I loathe Raf’s use of colors with all my heart. Disgusting. Only thing I appreciated was that there were no logos, and Miuccia’s look.” [Carla55]

“This collection lost me, first look was super Prada 1990/2000 and some of the silhouettes/pieces were desirable and stylish (crumpled suits, some knitwear etc.) but then you got this parade of Raf’s go-to nonsense: leather hoodies, plastic jumpsuits, this ridiculous trompe loeil belts etc. Shame, another chance for a decent collection wasted.” [Olaffo]

MISS | Martine Rose

“A parade of sh*t.” [gallianostan]

“What is with those noses? They are extremely disgusting and disturbing, even for trying to gain attention on social media.” [TimBlanksFullFatMiuMiu]

“I wonder what the vision for her brand is? Whom exactly is this for and what’s the aesthetic she’s creating, chasing or conforming to? Most all over the place collection that I’ve ever seen.” [Constructionist]

MISS | Dunhill

“The socks… my eyes!” [jeanclaude]

“I get the reference and where it is coming from, but my Lord this is so stupid. And why such thick socks for such a snug loafer? Heinous. Absolutely heinous I say.” [Cocteau Stone]

“The styling with the hats, canes and socks really betrayed what could’ve been a very chic collection.” [LadyJunon]

HIT | Giorgio Armani

“My fave collection from Milan! Flawless, from start to finish. Absolutely in love with the vast majority of looks here, and that muted color palette is heavenly – those shades of beige and grey mid-way through the collection are sublime. As per usual, Giorgio Armani proves himself to be in a league of his own. Massively into this…” [vogue28]

“This is very, very good. When I think of a luxury brand doing wearable summer staples, this is it. Not stodgy at all, languid looks, but coherent, sophisticated and polished.” [visvim2001]

“A perfect, casual and chic collection. Armani never fails.” [WAVES]

MISS | Gucci

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Oh well, I think Sabato De Sarno’s time will be up soon. No conviction, these models don’t look confident. No characteristics, no personality. Just clothes that fill the void gives no meaning whatsoever.” [TaylorBinque]

“The clothes and styling is just so feminine and also so dorky. And as with everything from Sabotage De Sarno so far, it just looks so department store/mid-market.” [lookatme]

“This is such a laugh! I can’t point out a single idea of Sabato De Sarno for Gucci. All we see is just a remix of Prada, Valentino, Dior etc. There is no vision, there is no soul.” [Olaffo]

HIT | Tod’s

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“All these top tier houses should take notes. That ostrich bag in the fourth look shall be mine!” [tourbillions]

“It’s good that they did not make suits. I don’t think men go to Tod’s for suits. It’s very coherent to the brand. The bags and shoes are the stars and the clothes, a good supporting act.” [Lola701]

“A very solid, cohesive and desirable collection. So many pieces I would very happily wear here, absolutely love that blue knitted jumper and cardigan combo. There is so much gorgeous knitwear throughout this collection.” [vogue28]

HIT | Zegna

“Beautiful clothing, beautiful casting, the models carrying the two bags felt a bit forced. The prints are what Gucci should have aimed for (but failed).” [Yassous]

“Very sleek and luxurious as we expect from Italian menswear. Loved the presentation and location too though the music was boring it sounded like royalty free music. I miss the days when designers made an effort with their shows.” [Urban Stylin]

Everyone loves a good ol’ fashion flashback, right? Ahead of the upcoming Spring 2025 season of Menswear Milan Fashion Week, we’re throwing it back to Spring 2015.

Perhaps the biggest change when looking back to June 2014, is the creative directors behind each brand at the time. The most notable difference being Calvin Klein Collection on the schedule, with Italo Zucchelli at the helm of the iconic American fashion bible (who served as creative director from 2004 until 2016). Tomas Maier was at Bottega Veneta, who presented his collection inspired by dancers (including everyone from Nureyev to Baryshnikov). At Prada, Miuccia Prada served up a his-and-hers lineup while Milan Fashion Week staple Dolce & Gabbana were full steam ahead with their love for all-things Sicily, and honed in on the Spanish domination of the idyllic Italian island between 1516 and 1713. Inspired by a trip to Cuba, Donatella’s Versace collection was larger-than-life and full of all the iconic Versace symbols with hints of the Roman Empire splashed throughout.

That’s a wrap on Menswear Milan Fashion Week and since Friday, we have been wrapped in magnificent Milanese finery from all the major players on the MFW schedule. The fashion pack first digested Sabato De Sarno’s debut as Gucci’s creative director, who mirrored the Ancora notion of his womenswear showcase last September. Dean and Dan Caten’s Dsquared2 show was cast entirely of identical twins, to give attendees the illusion models emerged from a transforming capsule wearing a completely different outfit as they roamed a gleaming white set. All-black was high on the agenda at Dolce & Gabbana, as Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana made their return to full form to give us their interpretation of the word “sleek”, resulting in an array of sharply-tailored looks. Silvia Venturini Fendi paid tribute to Princess Anne, with a very British approach to dressing for the Fall 2024 season. It was business as usual at Prada, with guests sat on office chairs to check out the latest designs from Miuccia Prada and Raf Simmons, who merged stereotypical office attire with the great outdoors. Models were practically without pants at JW Anderson, who sought inspo from Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut while pajama-soft looks ruled the runway at Giorgio Armani.

Look no further for an unfiltered take on Menswear Milan Fashion Week’s Fall 2024 season. Check out the hits and misses, all in accordance with theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Sleek is absolutely the right word for this show! Dolce & Gabbana are on fire and this show proves so. Love the styling and those horse riding boots are making me feel a way.” [GERGIN]

“Dramatic but just the right amount of drama. The big coats, the evening wear, the impeccable tailoring and even the denim. It all feels just right and very much on brand. What a beautiful surprise. I guess Domenico and Stefano are ready, or at least, trying to really re-enter the fashion discourse.” [Wolkfolk]

“It’s not even camp. It’s just straight up COMMON. More is more with these clowns.” [GoldenPetals]

“A sleek collection. Beautiful color palette.” [MModa]

“From a pure product perspective, I loved it. So strong, crisp, beautifully made, well-designed clothes and accessories. Encore!” [Fulton St Critique]

“It’s very good and solid for a menswear collection. The coats are great, the tailoring looks sharp and well cut and even the logo presentation is done in a very chic way.” [WAVES]

MISS | Prada

“Funny how Raf Simons who held the helm of Calvin Klein can’t create desirable denim pieces. And some pieces are straight up cartoonist, that 1900s train conductor look.” [RaisinBoy]

“It’s painful to see this brand lose its fashion credentials season after season.” [bc collector]

“This is just a lazy and failed recreation of Fall 2002 menswear. Miuccia and Raf just went and added unnecessary accessories. In terms of pieces, there’s nothing really desirable here. Everything you expect from Prada here was missing: no good knitwear, no good shoes, no good outerwear.” [Lola701]

HIT | Fendi

“I loved most of it! It’s very Fendi and has Silvia Venturini Fendi written all over it. For me, another clear proof – as if we needed one – that she could’ve carried menswear and womenswear RTW on her own.” [WAVES]

“I liked it! some great pieces. I loathe horsebit shoes but overall it was a win for me!” [Ihhbl]

“Very much a fan of those earthy tones and how I am instantly reminded of the British brand Barbour, which is perhaps the sole reason why I’m able to appreciate the vast majority of looks here!” [vogue28]

HIT | Giorgio Armani

“Mister Giorgio is on a roll!” [DK92]

“Another wonderful Giorgio Armani collection, which feels a cut above the rest. So many, SOOO MANY wonderful separates that I could sit and salivate over – I’d happily take all the outerwear pieces and the knitwear. Stunning color palette, absolutely stunning.” [vogue28]

“Nice collection as always. I always love it when Armani does blue.” [LadyJunon]

MISS | JW Anderson

“I will never understand this guy’s phenomenon. He has done few interesting collections for Loewe but his own label has always been nothing more than a sloppy 1st year design student mess.” [avonlea002]

“I’m sure the social media fashion mafia will lap this up, but surely this is one huge troll here (not that his others aren’t). All the gathered ruffles and satin edging seem like the kind of thing a fashion student would do to add something “different” to their collection to make it more interesting. When in doubt, add a ruffle…” [Cocteau Stone]

Jonathan is very hit and miss. Big miss here. Not a single thing I like. This is made for the fashion clique, social media. A bunch of clothes with no life of their own, made to be seen and photographed. More marketing than fashion.” [Alquimista]

HIT | Zegna

“I’ve really grown to appreciate Zegna (as a brand and as a group). It’s just 360 degrees of exquisite.” [LadyJunon]

“Nice fabrics, great trousers and the more classic pieces look amazing!” [tatouejeremie]

“The shoulders and sleeves on everything is perfection. I love Alessandro Sartori’s play on necklines and collars/collarless outerwear.” [youthinasia]

Menswear Milan Fashion Week has been a-go since Friday and a jam-packed schedule filled full of Milanese splendor has delivered us shows boasting an endless display of true Italian craftsmanship. At Gucci, Sabato De Sarno made his long-awaited menswear debut as the brand’s creative director, ultimately echoing the Ancora theme from his first womenswear showcase back in September. Sleekness was the order of the day at Dolce & Gabbana, with the duo’s latest showcase truly marking Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s return to full form (pairing razor-sharp tailoring with denim perfectly). Statement Prada coats were served up from co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons and make no mistake that Giorgio Armani isn’t about to be denounced as the true reigning king of Italian moda.

Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week Spring 2022 is a wrap. Now it’s on to Paris. Fortunately, we were treated to an (almost) endless amount of showstopping moments.

Alberta Ferretti kicked things off with a collection full of feminine charm and casual elegance. At Fendi, Kim Jones took us all the way back to the disco era. Fausto Puglisi reworked Roberto Cavalli’s signature tiger print, while Ian Griffiths at Max Mara gave us an offering inspired by Françoise Sagan. Alberto Caliri took over the reins at Missoni with a 90s-filled showcase.

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons made fashion history by simultaneously showcasing two shows in Milan and Shanghai. Dua Lipa made her runway debut at Versace. The noughties are back and better than ever at Dolce & Gabbana. Meanwhile, Giorgio Armani proved once again he’s the king of Italian fashion.

Donatella Versace and Jones switched roles with the former designing a mini Fendi collection and the latter serving up a fresh spin on Versace giving us a collaboration we never knew we wanted. Of course, it helps that the show featured runway legends, including Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Amber Valletta.

Here are all the hits and misses of Milan Fashion Week Spring 2022 according to our unfiltered forum members.

Milan Fashion Week Spring 2021 is over so it’s time to reflect on the highs and lows. The street style was a definite high note, per usual. But the collections are another story. At least according to our forum members. Fendi kicked things off with a show featuring models Eva Herzigova, Yasmin Le Bon and Penelope Tree sporting Silvia Venturini Fendi’s last solo offering before Kim Jones joins the team. Everyone was glued to their computer screens to witness Raf Simons’ co-creative director debut over at Prada. Giorgio Armani gave us yet another stunning collection. Donatella Versace basically rehashed Gianni Versace’s iconic Spring 1992 collection. Jeremy Scott relied on marionettes to showcase his latest Moschino collection. Even in the midst of a pandemic, Dolce & Gabbana created a staggering number of looks. Pierpaolo Piccioli had the honor of closing out the week. But his latest Valentino collection turned out to be unworthy of an actual runway show. While lots of big brands disappointed, several more under-the-radar labels really delivered. Ready to see which collections made an impression on our forum members? Then click through the slideshow above to see the hits and many misses of Milan Fashion Week Spring 2021.
