We’ve become fairly accustomed to seeing A-list talent splashed across the cover of W Magazine. The American magazine’s annual Best Performances issue is here for 2025. Naturally, Sara Moonves (who has served as editor-in-chief since 2019) ushers in some of Hollywood’s finest onto a selection of covers. Mooves drops her usual go-to of Juergen Teller in favor of Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott for 2025. This year’s W Magazine Best Performances installment sees Selena Gomez, Zendaya, Angelina Jolie, Ariana Grande, Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Demi Moore, Tilda Swinton, Saoirse Ronan, Zoe Saldana, Mia Goth, Daniel Craig, Paul Mescal, Colman Domingo, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Adrien Body front a total of 16 covers.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“I am SO here for a departure from the Juergen Teller-ification of the Best Performances issue,” immediately applauded KoV.

“I’m glad it’s a Mert & Marcus offering,” echoed forum member jeje10.

“Beautiful covers, all of them! The Angelina Jolie cover stole my heart,” shared Ihhbl.

Vogue22 commented: “Love the Tilda Swinton, Zendaya and Angelina Jolie covers!”

“Honestly this is outstanding, from the covers reminiscent of 90s and 00s W, the rooster of stars is top level. I need to buy at least seven covers,” ReneSanchez raved.

“Strong covers all around,” Marc10 applauded.

“An instant classic issue. A near perfect portrayal of the actors by W Magazine in a LONG time. I will be picking up my first W in years,” declared GERGIN.

If the term “sweater weather” conjures images of dark months of frumpy, shapeless silhouettes, it’s time for a new approach to fall dressing. Even celebrities, who often seem to have the ability to defy the seasons on the red carpet, are transitioning to warmer styles, but that doesn’t mean that anyone is sacrificing elegance for coziness or sex appeal for windchill coverage. We’re turning to tastemakers like Olivia Palermo, Kate Bosworth and Jourdan Dunn for lessons in layering that will take your cable knit from where it usually lives in comfort country (curled up on the couch with leggings and tea) to party city. Take notes because these 18 celeb-approved sweater outfits are as style-minded as they are seasonal.

Our forums were left divided. “At least there are no Kardashians/Jenners on the cover,” appreciated jnobis.

LOVE is just too desperate and irrelevant right now,” slandered Creative, unwilling to give support.

In agreement was KissMiss: “I hate all these covers. There’s always something so pretentious about this magazine…”

Oxymore wasn’t ecstatic either, adding, “I hate the masthead this time.” Oh, dear.

Discussion soon shifted toward Gisele’s unusual and unsuspecting cover. “Gisele looks really good here. It’s easy to forget that behind the fembot look is a truly versatile supermodel,” enthused an impressed GivenchyHomme.

“Gisele’s cover is so wonderful! Always love seeing her in a more high fashion concept. Also love Carolyn and Florence. Plus, Mia’s face is just precious!” continued Nepenthes.

Also showing enthusiasm was thiago:): “I know LOVE is a quite pretentious publication but I can’t help but love all the covers so far. I could have them all, seriously. Love how raw they look.”

Which will you be hunting down, if any? Share your sentiments and await the content here.

The forums erupted the minute the images surfaced. “This is by far one of Meisel’s best campaigns in years. I love the over the top excess, it feels fresh. Fashion needs to stop taking itself so seriously. I have not been disappointed with the campaigns so far. Hopefully this trend will continue!” applauded GivenchyHomme.

“Ha, this is amazing!” MulletProof added.

Also in awe was dior_couture1245: “These are absolutely gorgeous. So different from what we are used to seeing in campaigns these days. So breathtaking.”

“Love it so much!!! This looks fresh. Loving everything, it’s much better than last season,” said thatsfierce.

Iconolast agreed: “This is out of this world, some of the best campaign work ever. Meisel at his very best.”

RaisinBoy was quick to show his love, too. “I have to say I love this. I was really excited when Gucci came out, but it fails completely in comparison with Miu Miu. The campaign may be quite busy, but it is executed flawlessly. Sometimes the clothes aren’t really visible, but it makes me want to visit the shop even more.”

“Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” If you’ve been searching for a less expected way than buds and blossoms to shout “Spring is here!” with your wardrobe ever since Meryl Streep‘s character Miranda Priestly uttered these lines in The Devil Wears Prada, look no further than Spring 2015’s most seasonal print — gingham. The cheery check was all over (and we mean all over) the runways, brightening skirts, dresses, blouses and jackets in the collections of fashion houses like Diane von Furstenberg, Altuzarra and Proenza Schouler, to name a few. We’ve also spotted stars like Taylor SwiftLily James and Rihanna wearing the on-trend pattern. The charming print brings to mind feminine icons like Brigitte Bardot (who famously wore a gingham wedding dress) and is a perfect match for this season’s return to classic silhouettes. And no, you will not look like a farm girl in gingham, especially if you take a style note from one of these 15 runway and celebrity inspirations.

After a rumor hit our forums last month, we were expecting to see Gisele Bündchen. “After the cover rumor, I was all geared up for Gisele, so this seems like the lackluster antithesis of anything she’d have to offer. Somber covers from Vogue Italia are becoming boring in their own way,” expressed tigerrouge.

“All the waiting for this crap?” asked an underwhelmed zacatecas570.

“Don’t like it all. They’ve been doing these dark covers for a while now, they could do something more light for spring, also the hair bothers me a lot,” KateTheGreatest replied, not showing support for the cover, either.

Bruce7Lee even went so far as to declare, “This is probably the worst cover of VI in a long time.”

Is it really so bad? Our forum members certainly aren’t having any of it. “Lazy. Lazy. Lazy. Are they entering a dark era? The color scheme of the 3 covers this year are all identical! Stop pushing the olive scheme Italian Vogue!” suggested MON.

“This could have been a very haunting/fantastic cover but her face is weak/bad/bland,” DutchHomme contributed.
